Singapore

Singapore is a very small tropical island country with 60 inlets within its territorial waters, the Singapore Strait, and between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. The population size of over 5.5 million people. The city is very crowded and is one of the world’s most densely populated cities. 

 Singapore is a sovereign island state. It separated from Malaysia which was its parent country. The separation was due to political and economic differences between ruling parties in Singapore and Malaysia which resulted in Singapore city becoming a city-state. Singapore is one of the very few remaining city-states in the world, that became an independent city nation that function with its own government while still being a part of a larger nation of four major communities; Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Eurasian. And Singapore is one of the top 10 countries with a high number of expatriates from across the world. Singapore has a diversity of languages, religions, and cultures. Racial and religious harmony is regarded by Singaporeans as a crucial part of Singapore’s success and played a part in building a Singaporean identity.

Today the city-state, of Singapore is the capital of the Republic of Singapore and the country is one of the world’s leading economic centers in shipping and banking. The city combines modern skyscrapers and subways alongside the waters and with shipping docks, ports, and warehouses. 

Unlike many other densely populated countries, Singapore has more than 50 percent of its area covered by greenery and with over 50 major parks and 4 nature reserves. Singapore is one of the greenest cities in the world.  The country has a grand vision of a garden city or a biophilic city as they call it now. The government encourages residents to keep the city clean and green so that people can reconnect to nature which keeps ecosystems and improve people’s well-being. 

Singaporean food is legendary, with more dishes you can eat in a lifetime. From Michelin-starred delicacies to international cuisines and platters from bustling hawker centers, you savor new tastes that go into different dishes.  

And Singapore because of its shipping and warehouse centers, the country is one of the world’s best places for buying almost everything at great prices. The country is a true paradise for every Shopaholic. The best places to shop are Orchard Road and Suntan City. 

Nightlife in Singapore is vibrant.  From award-winning cocktail bars to glitzy nightclubs and cool 24 hours coffee houses, the lion never sleeps. The city is prepared with nightly shows and entertainment events. There is never a dull moment.
